I am purchasing a custom DD and want to advice on which twist I should get.

Typically I will be shooting 55gr to 62gr ammo.  So I am thinking that I should get a 1.9 but stock configurations of DD's (DDM4) come with a 1.7 twist.

I probably won't shoot 77gr that often.  I just want to make sure I am not committing some AR15 crime by putting a 1.9 twist 16 inch barrel on a DD.

Thanks

1:9” is a good choice for 55gr, 62 gr, and 69gr.
Not so much for 77gr.

What about shooting 55gr or 62gr out of a 1.7?

1 in 7 will shoot heavy and lighter rounds...You just have to find what ammo it likes.

Some people have reported problems with 55gr in a 1:7” twist, but a lot of people say it works for them.

1/7 works for 55gr and up. Never know when your going to want some heavier bullets, thats why I like the 1/7

And that is why I am going with the 1/7.

Thanks everyone.

It totally depends on the particular individual barrel & what it likes to shoot the best.
