| I need a compensator for my 16" patrol rifle. Being that it is for duty use, and the fact I work graveyards, I need good flash suppression. I would also like better rise control than I am getting out of teh A2. My comp rifles all sport brakes, and I really like the JP and the Ares Effin-A, but I just tried them at night - not even remotely doable for work. Any one have some good suggestions? Looking for a $50-$100 budget. Thanks |
| I run Primary Weapons FSC556 on my rifles. They great compensators and, in my opinion, offer just as good flash hiding as a A2 birdcage. I've shot it quite a bit in low light and I've never had issues with flash. I don't have experience with the Battlecomnp to compare it too, but they have always gotten good reviews as well. However, the FSC556 is about $50 less than the Battlecomp. |

I was looking at that one. Anyone have real world experience on it's flash suppression abailities? I'm a full time city cop, I use a Battle Comp on my duty carbine. I work a district where my carbine is typically out at least a few times a week. I have lots of training and teaching time using the BC, and picked it because of how well it works. Its not going to kill all the flash, but if your duty ammo is decent it works well enough. If your duty ammo puts out loads of flash, a comp may not be the way to go anyway. |

Stickman -
If you have used both, which would you recommend (Battle comp vs BCM) I can wait a bit if nothing is released yet. I work as a deputy in a really sh*tty, mostly rural area. My duty ammo is the Federal/Speer 62 gr JHP. Im not looking for flash elemination (The A2 birdgage does OK in that regard) but am looking for more "braking" capabilities. |

Just a little bit on a preproduction T&E sample, which Marty got. If the guy who designed the Battlecomp is impressed by it, then it's good enough for me.
Let me dig up the low light flash signature video of it. Quoted:

the new BCM Gunfighter Compensator Do you have a lot of trigger time with the BCM comp? I've been using them for awhile, but didn't know they had been officially released yet to the public. |

Let me dig up the low light flash signature video of it. I have a good amount of time on it, meaning well over 1k on the one unit and less on some of the others. I've done low light shooting, full auto, and all sorts of drills, as well as watched other shooters and fellow instructors using it to assess the rise, follow up shots and ease of use with experienced and inexperienced shooters. I also have low light video of multiple muzzle brakes shooting duty ammo in an effort to determine what differences there are, and of how much of a difference there really is. It was done with duty ammo to given an honest representation of what a cop (like me) or home owner looking to protect himself or family (like me) can expect. I have no doubt that using flame thrower cheapest ammo you can find there may be more of a difference, but with actual issued ammunition (defensive ammo), the differences in flash weren't all that impressive between several different models. Sure, some are a little better, but when there is still a bloom with each device, it becomes a matter of what feels best for the shooter.... and what feels best for the shooter is still subjective between the two models you mention. If you know Marty, you also know he has no love for his former employer. |
