I have this car buffer that is unmarked and no roll pin holding the plastic bumper on that I was told is an H2 (4.5 oz.) type. Were all heavy buffers marked and what is holding the rear plastic bumper on as my standard car buffer has a roll pin thru the body?

Sounds shady.  Someone's DIY project of unknown provenance at best.

Buffers are cheap, I would simply get a proper H2 buffer if that's what you're looking for.

Most properly weighted barrels are marked, and the large roll pin should be present.

If the weight is right maybe it is a good spare.
People manufacturing for civilian sales can do whatever they want.

It's also a friction fit in the back of the buffer.  But as stated, not the way you see most of them.  Spikes marks theirs T1 through T3 but the mark is on the side, not from the face that is in contact with the carrier.

Just verify the weight with a postal scale.  If it bothers you enough, get a different one.
