I doing a new build and I'm trying to figure out which rail to go with.  Either the 12.37 Samson or the 13" Troy Alpha, probably the VTAC version.  Just trying to build a light rifle. I've ordered a lighter weight 16" midlength PSA barrel and some other parts. Basically. I've ordered everything but a rail, sights, lower, and stock. I'm going for a setup similar to this black rifle from the let's see those midlengths thread.

But maybe more like this?

Which rail would you get? I know I want black. A stock recommendation would be nice as well. All of my current stocks are Magpul, but I think I want something a little different. Maybe a sopmod or imod.

Rail is up to you. Give the Vltor a try. I use a Troy Alpha rail and a Emod.

I just got a Samson Evolution rail for my newest build and I would say Im really impressed.  I used a DD Lite rail on my last build, so I didnt expect the Samson rail to be a comparison, but I was wrong!  Its a really nice product at a decent price.  Lockup is super solid with no chance of rotating.  You cant go wrong with the samson.  No experience with teh Troy rails to compare to though.

I would go with the Samson it was my first choice for my 300 blackout build until I found a deal on the EE for a Troy SS Gen2.

I like both, but I'm going to give the Rainier Arms version of Samsons Evolution rail a shot.

I have and like the Rainier version better than the Troy but like the mounting mechanism of the Troy Alpha better.  I wish Rainier would get on board with that mounting system.  I am not a fan of the S's on the Sampson version so I have not considered them.

As a Troy owner that's used the Samson a lot, i say Samson.

This is the correct answer.

All of mine are rock solid, super light, and zero heat transfer. I've heard the Troy heats up pretty quick.

The samson is a little heavier, and looks a little different, but the design is the same and it has all the same features.

Installation of the EVO is incredibly simple and locks up tight. I love mine.
