I am considering buying another AR that has a Spikes BAR rail on it.
I have never held one in person and wondered how they feel. Spikes describes them as being good for "people with bear paws". I do not have that situation and am looking for feedback. I don't want the rail to feel uncomfortable large. Currently have MOE on my other two guns if that helps. Thanks, twofish |

I have one on my spike's and an MOE on my PSA It feels exactly as large as an MOE, IMO With my hand gripping it, my thumb wraps around to the top of the right side rail section and my middle finger wraps around the bottom to touch the bottom of the same rail section...so a rail section gap between my thumb and middle finger When I grip my MOE, gap looks about the same between my thumb and middle finger I know you didn't ask, but for comparison, my Samson Evolution equipped AR, my thumb and middle finger touch, but in no way overlap If you're comfortable with the grip on your MOE equipped ARs, BAR should seem about the same. If you plan on putting an AVG on your BAR, expect to get no more than the first joint of your thumb over the top rail section and first joints of your fingers to touch the BAR, I run an AVG on my BAR and it is comfortable and I still have a solid grip. But make no mistake, it's a wide grip. Hope that helps, especially since you have an MOE equipped AR and so do I so I could hopefully convey some comparable experience. |

I recently put a 10" BAR on a SBR that I built and I love it. It is a large grip but not uncomfortable at all. I have a Magpul AFG on it and it feels very good to wrap my hand around. i don' have huge hands, but the full grip feels good to me. It has some extreme ventilation to allow the barrel to cool and that is the main reason I put it on the rifle. Also, on the short rifle it just looks cool.
It's all about preference and what your going to use it for. Try to go somewhere and put one in your hand. It's like anything else, everybody can tell you how great something is but if it is uncomfortable or doesn't fit you, it's not worth it. |
