I would choose Daniel Defense any day over YHM, actually I would just avoid YHM.
For under $100 I would try and pick up a used KAC RAS off of the equipment exchange. You can get a free float for your set up that would pretty much drop in as well, you might have to chop off the delta ring though. Which is really not that difficult if you have a dremel. Check out the C4 offerings from Centurion Arms. A carbine cut-out rail or their 7" rail would both be excellent choices and would free float your barrel without removing it for installation, you will have to dremel off the delta ring with these though. Daniel Defense's Omega series is also another drop in that is free floated, it does not require you to cut off the delta ring either. ETA: Midwest Industries drop in series seem to get alot of positive comments too, especially for the price point. |
| There's nothing wrong with yhm. They may not be as light or refined as dd or kac rails but they're solid and they work. What do you plan to attach to your railed handguard? What's your budget? If you aren't putting optics on and are on a tighter budget then drop in rails like that yhm is the way to go. Another option is tobspend 30$ on a set of primary arms brand rails on their sight. They drop in, work well and the price is so low you could run them while saving up for better rails and the experience would help you decide if you need floated or not. |
