STR is my current favorite. The fit was absolute dog shit but a piece of electrical tape on the buffer tube makes it tighter than a kitten's...... Wait, what?

Had an MOE and loved it.
Upgraded to a CTR and loved it.
Currently on an STR and love it.

If I had to pick one - I would say the CTR is the best combination of all of them.  I love the STR - it is really comfortable but the CTR is light weight, locks in place easily, just a solid all around nice stock.

I have had a CTR and currently have an ACS. I really like the ACS and I am getting another CTR today. I will probably end up selling the CTR later though as I want to try a STR or a ACS-L

Samson Evo rail.

I personally like the CTR, but plan on picking up a STR fairly soon.  I tried the UBR but did not balance with the rifle I had it on.

I currently own ARs with UBR, CTR, ACS and ACS-L stocks, and have owned MOEs in the past.  My current favorite is the ACS-L, but they're all good.

It depends on which gun I'm running. I have MOEs, CTRs, an STR, an ACS, UBRs and a PRS. I like them all for different reasons.

But what others prefer may not be best for you. For example, I have 5 different types of Magpul stocks which I selected based upon each firearm's role.

Please understand that I'm not trying to be difficult but each of Magpul's stock is slightly different than the others. There are pros and cons to each one.

Ive owned the MOE, CTR, and the STR. I've also used the UBR. The MOE had to much wobble, the CTR and the STR had the locking mechanism which was another task to do before you could shoot. And, for a dumb reason, I dont like the looks of the UBR and it does have a good amount of weight.

The LMT SOPMOD is what I run on my rifle. I love this stock. I also had VLTOR IMOD but it will rip off your whiskers because of the design on the cheek weld. The SOPMOD was a little to expensive for my taste, however it is my favorite add-on to my rifle.

My CTR milspec size with extended buttpad on my Colt 6721 carbine.

MOE milspec size stock on my 9mm plinker it fits snug on my BCM receiver extension YMMV.

You have to decide with the different features, style, cheekweld, sling mount, friction lock, storage, weight, buttpad, front to rear balance, etc, it comes down to personal preference.

Here's a good article to help you to decide which stock is the best for you.

I don't understand the task of locking the stock before shooting. You find your preferred length, lock it in place and leave it alone. Mine are all stored at the length I prefer. I only adjust them if someone else wants to try it out.
