I apologize if this is a rookie question. But I see AR's for sell, most are a2's it seems but I think I have seen a3's and a4's. can someone explain the differences. I want an upper without a carry handle. I have an old AR dissipator but am wanting to change a lot of parts to make it better suited to me.
Thanks for any info. Hedo |

I don't know a lot but here is what I think is correct:
A1 - triangular handguards, thin profile barrel, fixed carry handle A2 - round handguards, different rear sight, heavier profile barrel A3 - flat top receiver, 3-round burst selection A4 - flat top receiver, full-auto selection(?), different handguards I know there is more but that's all I an squeeze out of my gray-matter right now. |

A4 has the KAC rail and is still burst. |

A3 was the Navy model of the A2. It had a full auto setting instead of burst like the A2 but other than that same gun.
A4 is a flat top with burst setting and usually with a Knights Armament rail. But they come out of the case when we get them brand new with regular A2 style hand-guards on them. |
