Im looking to build an upper to shoot at targets, ground hogs and the occasional yotes. Max range of around 400-450yds. I still need to be able to take down ground hogs effectively at that range.

I'm thinking of going with a 20" but not sure who makes decent barrels. I need one to help get me as sub-moa as possible. Using .223 handloads, also.

Thanks for any input.

Not sure if you have any kind of budget in mind but:

Rainier Arms makes excellent barrels their 20" sounds about like what your looking for and will shoot sub moa all day.

Another good option would probably be Noveske's 20" Varmint Barrel

I was originally wanting to spend less than $300 but it looks like that isn't going to happen for a match grade barrel

could get an 18" match from rainier for about that price point.

Or a 18" white oak.

Ima look into them.

And it doesn't have to be a 20 inch for accuracy either. I can do what you're after with a 16.

I already have a couple of 16" guns and I'd like to gain a bit more velocity. When not at the tree farm shooting ground hogs it'll be a bench gun.

After looking into it I'll probably go with a 18" rifle length.

Before I got my OBRs, I had WOA bbl that was exceptional.

I'd look at Rainier for their Match barrels if that is your budget.  I was looking at their 18" SPR barrel but it went out of stock a few days ago  You might have to wait for more 18" barrels to come in

They have the Ultra Match 18" SPR though, high $300's I believe.

Blackhole Weaponry makes just about what ever barrel profile you can think of. They are on the pricier side of the scale though.

Used a Mossberg 24" stainless bull barrel on my build.  With hand loads getting .25 - .30" groups at 100 yards consistently. My brother got a 24" stainless bull, barrel from ar15kits.com for $180.00.  Same results.  You don't need an expensive barrel.  Those groups are from 52, 55 and 73 gr bullets.

I have a DPMS Mk12 barrel and it's a sub-moa barrel. It's a 18" rifle length, and it's teflon coated stainless. I try won't and tell you it is as good as a Rainier Ultra Match, but it's a very nice tube for the cash. It was only $160 from JSE Surplus, but that was a couple of years ago. I'm having trouble getting my load down for the hornady 68gr match, but my best group was moa (ten round). It really loves the 55gr SPs and the 75gr Match, I might abandon the 68s all together anyway.
