| Whats the difference in OAL between 14.5" barrel with std pinned flash hider bringing it to 16.1" vs a 16.1" with std flash hider? |

About 1.5". It does make a surprising difference in weight and balance of the rifle...in my opinion. Which do you prefer? 14.5" is what I am running now and I would never go back to a 16". Nothing wrong with the 16", I just prefer the shorter barrel because it is lighter/shorter and gives the rifle better balance. There is a trade off with the flash hider being pinned though... |
| Considering changing from a 16" HBAR to a lighter weight barrel. I have a 16' M4 profile & a pencil barrel on another weapon. I don't like the loss of velocity from the 16" but this is for indoors. Not sure 14.5"\ 1.5" length savings is worth it. A friend had one & from what I remember it seemed light & handy. What about muzzle blast increase over 16"? Anyone notice a difference? Is it legal to just pin or is welding necessary too? Bushmaster offers a welded & pinned barrel but I was thinking of a 1in 7" twist like DD Hammer forged with a A2X flash supp. Anyone offering a barrel with flash supp. installed other than BM. |
Great timing on this thread, I just had this conversation with my friend. I took the plunge and bought a Daniel Defense 14.5 inch M4 style carbine length. He is putting it on for me this week. He said it is totally worth it. He said it also changes the whole balance of the weapon and target accusation/flow while at the ready are better. I can't wait to do this.
