Buy two or three boxes of common types and shoot them.
Pick out the best on and then buy the bulk packs.
Every rifle is different.

I am looking at buying 1k for 55 grain and I just wanted to know if it will be ok. I heard the barrel twist has everything to do with it

If you don't really want to take the time to see what your rifle likes, the 55gr is a pretty safe bet. I wouldn't run out and buy 1k of some oddball steel cased stuff though. Stick to mil-spec 5.56.

what about 223 ammo? it will shoot out of a colt 6920 right?

55gr will be fine. The 1:7 ratio is very versatile.
