Comp. vs. flash hider
Does any have the best of both worlds?
As I work in LE I do have a need for the visual report to be somewhat concealed. Of course though I plan on giving it some serious range time, no competition, just some hard shooting in an array of positions. What's out there that will keep an optimal amount of dirt, dust or sand outta my face?

I'm not being a smartass here.

An A2 flash hider works well.

Vortex also.

I HATE shooting next to someone with a muzzle break.

IMHO the battle comp does a pretty damn good job of both. Stickman has one on his duty weapon FWIW.

Another vote for battle comp if wallet allows. It balances flash report and muzzle rise similar to a2 but is more effective in all three areas. The a2 is very good for how cheap they are though. I have a bc 2.0 but the 1.0 would suit you better unless you want an a2 compatible suppressor.

There are a lot of satisfied battlecomp owners on this site.  But damn, they ought to be good for what they cost.

The griffen armament m4sd is supposed Lu very comparable to the BC for few bucks less.

Another Battlecomp fan here, they really do what they say they do.  I've heard great reviews of the Spikes Dynacomp too, but no personal experience.  I'm probably gonna try one in the future, cause they are a little cheaper than the battlecomp.

I'd like to see a Vortex with a gnarled  bezel at the end, as well as a closed bottom to limit dust kick up.... but then I think you'd loose out on the flash surpression capabilities.... I go with a Phantom 5C2

I've shot next to other people shooting a Battlecomp, PWS, Noveske (as well as Bulgarian), 5C2, Vortex, and A2 in lower light. I have to say the battlecomp followed by PWS for muzzle flash as far as the brakes go. Unfortunately shooting in close proximity also allowed me to realize both the PWS and Battlecomp are in-service unfriendly for your fellow officers. This is especially true with SBRs. The Vortex and 5C2 both work better than the standard A2 for flash suppression without annoying anyone else close to you with the Vortex having better flash suppression.  The only problem with the Vortex is that the tines like to hang up on duty gear as well as random vines and shurbs (ie––not the best to go on a K9 track with).

I'm quite happy with the 5C2 or just the plain A2 as they offer reasonably decent flash suppression without as much side blast.
