In the process of ordering parts for my new build and could use some professional help regarding the Ace Skeleton Entry stock as far as what buffer assembly parts I need to order to complete my lower with it.
Questions: 1. Do I need a buffer tube or does the stock replace it? 2. Do I need a castlenut and backing plate? (Unsure if the stocks mount replaces those or not) 3. Kinda related so I'll ask here instead of new thread; What weight buffer should I use on a 14.5 in barrel with Carbine gas system? Thanks in advance for the help guys! |

1-the ace entry stock comes with it's own buffer tube, but you will need to supply the spring and buffer
2-castle nut and end plate are just for collapsible stocks, you won't need one...however the ace arfx-e stock is pretty short, so I and many others use a 1" fixed stock extender 3-i've used both a carbine buffer and heavy buffer and had no issues with either...i think the general consensus is use the heaviest buffer you can that won't hinder performance, probably an H or H2 |

no special tools will be needed to install the 1" extension...you will need allen keys though in order to install the stock.
if you're going to want to use those heavy duty push button quick disconnect sling swivels i'd suggest looking at the KAC 1" fixed stock extender |

I bought the KAC extender from operation parts, but I'm sure other sites sell it as well ( http://www.operationparts.com/Kac_Knights_Fixed_Stock_Push_Button_Sling_Mount_p/98506.htm )
it unfortunately costs as much as the stock does, but i really didn't like the sling mount options that came with the stock....The DPMS one is about 1/2 the price and does the same exact thing, just no push button swivel. also as was pointed out you will need to use the longer screw if you go with the 1" extension. I believe either the stock or extension will come with the screw though. The one other recommendation I would have is DO NOT over tighten the screw. The buttpads of the Ace stocks have cheap plastic washers in them, and if you tighten it too hard you will crack the washer which then lets the screw go too far into your buffer tube and your BCG will not lock back properly. |
