Hey guys, my dad picked up Bushmaster used and it's got the round varmiter style handguards on it. I was wondering how to take these off? It looks like the gas tube goes through one of the holes, so I know that would have to be removed, but does the actual guard just unscrew? It looks like there may be some thread lock or grease in there or something, I think I saw threads, but am not 100% sure it was threaded. Thanks, and happy Veteran's Day.

get you a strap wrench and place it around the hand guard.   rotate it counter clock wise.. it will come off..
you need to place the wrench close but just in front of the barrel nut..  the barrel nut and freefloat tube look like one piece
they are machined well and it's hard to see the seam..    youll need to take the sling mount off,  Slide the FF tube over the gas block,
remove the Gas tube ,,get your barrel nut wrench out and remove.   your done..

I just bought a 20" Predator upper. I want to paint the Free Float tube. Does one have to remove the gas tube? I thought that the FF tube would just slide over the block up front.
