I'm thinking about adding an 18" varmint style upper to my Colt LE6920 lower for occasional use. Can I use my current H buffer with an 18" upper without degrading performance?

Depends on the gas system

18" rifle gas will probably run well with an H

18" carbine gas you probably want a H3
