Hello, will the battlesight on the 11” troy alpha rail be able to fold all the way down with a mid-length system using a low-profile gas block or will there be interference? id really like to avoid the 13" alpha option. any input would be appreciated.

I just put a 13 inch on a mid length. The gas block is less than 2 inches behind the front sight cut out. Is say no it only would fit carbine or pistol gas barrels.

Im glad I stumbled across this because I was going to order one for my middy. I never thought about the sight not clearing. I guess I'll just go with the alpha without the sight and run some magpul sights or something.

I can answer that for you. I purchased a 11" Alpha with integrated sight for my 14.5" mid-length build. I used a Troy low-profile gas block and the sight will not fold down. The top of the gas block sits in the area where the sight folds down.

I think this post just saved a lot of people a lot of frustration. I don't recall Troy addressing this issue in their ads?

Wagonwheel,

I sent Troy an e-mail today letting them know my issue and suggested they might want to note that on their website.

Crap. This was my idea for my 2nd build. Plan B...

Unfortunately the 11" Alpha Rail with the built in sight is not compatible with a mid length and intermediate length gas system and the 13" Alpha Rail with the built in sight is not compatible with the rifle length gas system. We do however offer both lengths without a built in sight that will work. Thank you!

What about with shaved FSBs? Are they low profile enough?

i just got my new Alpha rail and the 13" did not work with my midlength shaved FSB but just barely, so i was able to shave down the front of the FSB more to make it work. So instead of the FSB being square on both sides the front tapers down to the barrel now to clear the built in sight.

Hope that makes sense.

And also not to hijack your thread but mine came with the front sight moving from side to side quite a bit so i am in the process of trying to send it back to them to get fixed. I already started a thread on this issue. Overall im kinda disappointed with this rail. Just wanted to share my experience

I just installed a 13" alpha on a bcm middy. I shaved the fsb down and it clears just fine. Just put it to a bench grinder and take your time, test fit it frequently. I'll post pics in a bit.

Here is my rail. The front sight clears the gas block by quite a comfortable margin.

I have an 11" Troy TRX and a low-pro GB on a ML, covers it completely.

Do you have any sort of side to side movement in your front sight when it is in the up position?

Mine does and i have contacted troy and they said the movement is normal. i dont see how it could have movement but hold zero. i am going to be sending mine back for one without the built in sight

I bet you could tap the pin out and put some small shims or thin washers on the front sight pivot pin. That would hold it in place nicely. Maybe a plastic washer or bushing? That's what I'd do. The front sight is a huge bonus, and it saves you from having to buy a separate one.
