I just got my 10" rail installed first time I've had a free float but is it normal to be able to flex the barrel(mind u not easily) I'm just a paranoid SOB

Yeah, that's why they call it free floating.
It's normal.  

Just to be sure, go back and tighten all the screws in a cross pattern, but it should still flex.  

It has to allow for barrel harmonics and vibration
