I have a telestock tube on a midlength carbine. Thinking of going to a fixed stock for better stability, specifically the ACE AR15 Skeleton.  The info I've found says it uses either A1 or A2 buffer tubes. It doesn't say which spring/buffer to use, even found a review w/ pics but no help. Would the shorter A1 tube work with my carbine spring and buffer or do I need the whole set?

A1 buffer tubes require a rifle buffer and spring.  Or there's a spacer available that will allow you to use a carbine buffer and spring in a rifle buffer tube.  ACE also makes a shorter version of that stock that uses an entry buffer tube which is rifle style, but the same length as a carbine tube.

There is no A2 extension. The A2 stock uses the original extension with a 5/8" rear spacer and longer screw.

The Rifle ACE Skeleton Stock needs a Rifle extension. If you do not want to buy a rifle buffer and rifle spring, you can use a spacer to take up the space and use the carbine buffer and spring.

Thanks, that helps. I may go with the rifle length and use the spacer.

If I remember right it's RRA that sells the extension.  It's listed as a 9mm conversion part.  I ran it for a while in an ACE ARFX stock and it worked fine.  Costs about $9.

Could save yourself a bit of effort and just get one of the Vltor rifle modstocks and install it on your carbine RE.Vltor has the rifle modstock in A1 and A2 length and it comes with everything you need to install it on your carbine RE.Easy to remove as well in case you ever wanted to use the telestock.

Be careful here.  I have never seen such a spacer before.  DO NOT run a carbine buffer in a rifle buffer tube.  You WILL break your lower receiver after just a few rounds.  Do it right and go buy the rifle tube, buffer, and spring together.  You will like the full length Ace stock.  I have several of them.

Here you go.

Carbine Buffer Spacer - $10
This Delrin spacer allows you to use any carbine buffer in a rifle-length buffer tube. Now you don't have to buy a new buffer If you change your stock type.
