I just built my first AR a while back, and ran into a problem today ... Does anyone know if a DPMS 16" 5.56 Complete Upper should work with the surefire model M73 Rail Mount assembly. My barrel nut is like a sprocket and I cannot get the rail to seat properly. Is this the correct size? There are teeth on the back of bottom side of rail that don't seem to match up with teeth on barrel nut? Any help greatly appreciated..Thanks

I found this review...

The Surefire M73 is very easy to
install and provides an absolutely rock solid rail platform all the way
around.  I have one set installed on my DPMS AP4 and they fit perfectly.
I am very impressed at the affordability and excellent quality of this
system.

Make sure the barrel nut is indexed properly. As OldCrow posted, it should drop right in with a standard barrel nut.

Maybe this will help...This is my Barrel Assembly.... http://www.dpmsinc.com/store/products/?prod=271&cat=1646. I checked the Barrel Nut , and it seems to be fine. I know that it SHOULD drop right in. I am banging my head against the wall at this point...It seems like with the delta ring pulled back and the barrel nut exposed that the new rail either isn't long enough or will not seat on the barrel nut itself in order to allow the tension needed to lock the handguard in place. I can take the factory handguard on and off in seconds. That's why I feel like something is wrong. That this shouldn't be this hard??? Should the "serrated" end of the bottom rail guard piece slip over the barrel nut? It seems like the teeth and pattern don't align correctly..Your advice is greatly appreciated..Thank You!

I would think the SF rail would SNAP in just like the regular plastic HG

Where are you located in TN? Maybe I can help, I've used one of those rails in the past.

I'm right in Nashville. Davidson County.. I would think it would snap in too....The plastic handguards I took off both have slots for the barrel nut to slip into. My replacements do not..The lower peice has teeth or grooves cut in the end that is closest to reciever, and top doesn't have anything.. ??
