A friend of mine is looking to go freefloat I know really nothing about them so what does the hive suggest. He wants a rail system thats standard carbine size and will fit with the FSB still on the barrel.I suggested he check out Troy,Larue,KAC he wants to keep it under $300 any particular models anyone could recomend and he wants it compatible with KAC pannels as I have alot of those from my old surefire system that I no longer have..TIA everyone |
| Personally I am a fan of tubes rather than quad rails. I remember reading an article about the evolution of the AR15 and one of the points said something like there are railed forends that allow you to attach accessories, vertical grips, flashlights and even covers to [go] back to the rounded shape the original handguards the rails replaced. How true that was. (Unused) rails suck IMO. But if your friend has to have a free float quad rail the Daniel Defense Omega would be my choice. My friend has one and with the slim profile, it feels 10x better (and lighter) than the YHM diamond I had. Which YHM FFR are heavier than most anyway. My next choice would be the Spikes SAR. It just looks bad ass and relatively inexpensive. |

I vote Larue. Click here to check out the 7" design for a carbine gas system and FSB.
Installation instruction are on the webpage. DD, or KAC are good choices also. |

Vltor ill have to check tha one out as well I have the vltor on my current mk.18 build its rly nice. You choose were to put the rails on the sides and bottom(it comes with 2x2" rails 2x4" rails and a 5" rail as well as the top rail. Its also in use by the navy eod Its also a FF drop in rail, it mounts to the top picatinny rail on the receiver and to the barrel nut whih uses the delta rings sprin to add resistance |

Another option is Centurion Arms C4. They are nice rails and use a standard barrel nut (two-piece design, too). He would have to cut off the delta ring, though.
Otherwise, CAS-V(EL), KAC RAS II, and the DD Omega are all great choices. |
