I just bought a Magpul Milspec CTR stock.
What Brand Buffer Tube assembly do I order and where to order from ? |
|
I would also recommend the BCM mil-spec size stock hardware mounting kit, I have a couple of them and they have a slightly larger outer diameter tolerance and they fit snug with any of my mil-spec stock body.
All my mil-spec stocks which are Magpul CTR, MOE, Vltor Modstock, IMOD, EMOD, Colt M4 and LMT M4 all fits snug, no rattles what so ever (YMMV). When you order your buffer tube kit from Bravo Company select the H (heavy) carbine buffer. What gas system and barrel length do you have? What gas system and barrel length do you have? 16" Barrel, Mid-Length gas system I see they offer H2 and H3 buffers, whats the difference ? Those are different weights of carbine buffers here are the approximate buffer weights: carbine standard: 3.0 oz H: 3.8 oz H2: 4.6 oz H3: 5.4 oz On my 16" midlength gas system carbine I had tried from standard to H2 buffer weights and all works, but the lighter buffer works better with underpowered ammo, the heavier buffer had problems with low powered ammo. Currently I'm running my H buffer on my midlength carbine and works fine with all my 55 gr and 62 gr military surplus ammo. What kind of ammo are you going to be using? |

For hot loads or military ammo and not using any weak loads the H or even heavier is better. |

Anyone have any experience with Spikes? I've run one of their buffer tube kits for awhile now. No issues so far. Their coating is light grayish as opposed to the standard black. Makes no difference to me. My ctr locks up tight with their RE so I'm good with that |

Does anyone have a picture of the threaded area of the BCM RE? http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/Milspec-Receiver-Extension-Buffer-Tube-p/bcm%20milspec%20receiver%20extension.htm |

I can't say that I have any personal reason for it. Other then me having a Bushmaster. I thought that I had to use a commercial buffer and extension tube. You do not have to run a commercial tube unless you have a commercial stock. A commercial tube and a mil-spec tube will both thread in to the same lower receiver. |
