Deciding on a stock for a new middy build.  The UBR really has caught my attention. Haven't been able to find much on it so would appreciate any and all input.

I love mine. It's adjustable, but the cheek piece doesn't move so you'll have a consistent cheek wield. It locks up super tight and has no play. The only down side to it is the weight, but it balances my 18" mid length perfectly.

+1 to everything he said. I liked mine and it looked cool but the added mass/weight  just seemed impractical so I switched back to an LMT SOPMOD, wich I feel has a more comfortable cheek weld and roughly the same storage space and adjustable LOP options and strength. IMHO.

The UBR is good to balance out a long precision rifle from a fixed pos more than a run and gun type stock,I think . Though you could smash some skulls with it.

While the SOPMOD is a decent stock, it's LOP adjustment mechanism (M4 style) as well as overall strength are both inferior to that of the UBR.

Probably true but the SOPMOD is more then good enough for the job and in a lot of cases, it's reduced weight (compared to the UBR) more then makes up for any short comings (real or perceived). Don't get me wrong, I think the UBR is a great stock but it's a heavy SOB. Mark me done as another guy getting ready to replace my UBR with a SOPMOD.

The UBR is indeed a heavy SOB. I tried it on a 16" M4 build and it is too heavy. I ended up putting it on my 24" HBAR.

I like mine...

I just wish there was an aftermarket option for a different top shroud... The cheekweld leaves something to be desired after getting used to my VLTOR stocks.

Wish it had more of a "slope"

Best built most solid stock out there.  Also one of the heaviest.  I wouldn't use it on something I am trying to keep lightweight, but it is great for SPR's and other heavier rifles.

That brings up a good question.  What's everyone's opinion on where should a guns balance point be?  I have a 14.5" barreled gun here with a MOE Hand Guard that's sporting a UBR.  It balances right at the magwell which is where I personally like it.  No clue on total overall weight, and I really don't care as balance is more important to me.

Right at the magwell is where i like it. The UBR was my first choice for a stock on the rifle pictured a couple posts up because it balances out the rifle perfectly.... before i put on the scope and bipod.

I originally had an EMOD on there and it was front heavy... very uncomfortable for carrying and offhand shooting.  The UBR balanced it perfectly.

Balance is waay more important than weight.  Im even considering popping the doors back on the UBR and filling the storage space with lead to counterpoint the scope and bipod.

Now if you could just give me that sloped shroud offering that i mentioned.... would be perfect.

The UBR is too damn heavy; too heavy to be practical.. Nice design, but it adds an extra un-needed pound to your rifle. Not for serious users.

I'd put a UBR on the "right" rifle to balance it out. I've got the venerable M93 on 3 rifles and 1 shotgun and I love it.

Maybe for you but not for me! I like a UBR to balanced a rifle for serious use!

Not sure what you mean by serious users especially since the UBR is a very tough and durable stock and will stand up to pretty much anything.

Also for most "serious users" it's more about balance than overall weight.  I use one on my SPR which seems to weigh 100 lbs anyways so whats 1 more...I also see a lot of guys running them on their carbines and loving everything about them.  To me the UBR is the best stock out there for a non-lightweight build.

I wish there was a better way to use an MS-2 sling. It seems like removing the forward qd point altogether and running a heavy zip tie throughout it might be the best method and that's sad.  Also cheekweld could be much imProved by an optional and wider cheekpiece that extends further down and out such as the excellent cheekweld offered by the SOPMOD.

I have a UBR on a sbr with a can and it balances Perfectly. I love the stock but really wish someone would devise a better sling mount system and also optional cheekpiece with more cheekweld (hint hint)

don't let these lightweight rifle totin' pansies talk you out of it, I have one on my 14.5/fixed flash hider rifle and love it. I would order a second one without question, aside from the cost that is.

My LMT 10.5 was a sweet set up until I threw a can on the end. Muzzle heavy like no tomorrow.

I attached a UBR, added the said pound, and it is an absolute joy to tote around. I even stuffed some more crap in to the storage compartment.

Balance is everything. Pushups and cardio take care of the rest.

I use a 2 point Larue sling with QD mounts on both ends.  I use the forward mount on the UBR and the closest mount to the reciever on my SWS rails...Works great.

Not sure if this helps since after reading your post again it sounds like you want a single point...
