I've been looking for a VFG and settled on the QD TD stubby, but then I came across the TROY VFG. I dig the fact that you can make it into a full size or stubby grip. The only downside is that it's not QD. I called Troy and it doesn't seem that they're going to have a QD version for at least a year, as there has not been much of a demand.
Anyone know where I can find a used TD QD stubby VFG? I've already looked on the EE here and over at M4carbine. |
| The LaRue FUG might work for you. They show up on the EE every once in a while. |

No doubt it's a good VFG, but it is pricey. My buddy has one and it's rock solid, but, once again, the price is sorta high. This is a major reason the Troy VFG is so appealing to me, is that you can go short or standard and it is at a good price. However, I understand that the reason for this much lower price is due to the lack of the QD feature. I think I just may go the Troy route, as once I have my middy set up the way I want it, I doubt I'll be moving stuff around much after that. I don't tend to mess with things too much once I get something dialed in. Troy makes this to make it a tad easier to put on and take off the grip. I suspect I'd use some blue Loc-Tite, as this is what I use with all my stuff that is 'screwed' on. |
| Bobro has done away with their full size VFG and has gone with a short grip! They are very nice. I also use a Tango Down VFG with the QD base and love it. I honestly don't remove it all that often but the ADM QD features allows for a perfect lock and a rock solid attachment. I've been very happy with it! |
