| Can someone direct me to a comparison of different muzzle devices? Which one is really the best? |
|
Someone needs to do an independent test, whats said to be the best and what works are 2 different things.
The Vortex and Blackout are good flash hiders but there are others that are just as good, we filmed apx 20 in the dark from 2 ft away. The Titan is a very good brake, one of the best for 3 gun but too loud to shoot without hearing protection. The larger the ports the louder they are, some reduce recoil but do little to reduce muzzle climb. The comps are where things are exaggerated, some say "great flash reduction" and shoot 8" fireballs out the end, some that are very expensive are designed with one large chamber where the turbulent gases can get around beside the bullet in the chamber and effect accuracy. One's best quality is it doesn't kick up dust, it's loud, degrades accuracy, does a mediocre job at flash and recoil reduction. Some do very little of anything but look cool, and usually sell better than the ones that work. |

For me I use the battle comp because it is very good at controlling muzzle climb and does not have a large concussion blast. |

I have a Rainier Arms XTC, a PWC 556 and a Battlecomp 1.0. Each minimize muzzle flip and each are very loud. People think I am shooting a .308 indoors.
I (and others behind me & on the side) see the muzzle flash in all these as well as feel the concussive forces....
That side each manufacturer that I have claim they control muzzle flash well. Here is Battlecomp video in which they compare a unidentified dual port brake, an unidentified compensator, an A2 birdcage, the Battlecomp. Battlecomp Promo Video on YouTube |

those sound good, but I am curious to know if there is one device that covers flash suppression and compensation? And has it been proven against the top competitors in the market? Yes, there are multiples that do the job much better than the standard A2. Proven is a relative term, and to a large degree there are other variables that come into play. If its for LE work, the needs are going to be different than a three gunner, which is different than a guy who likes to target shoot and has a set budget. |
