Why are there no new A1 stocks on the market yet?  What is so had about the A1 stocks?  I would think that one would be able to goto any vendor's website and order a newly made A1 stock....  I know there are surplus on the market but those seem to be drying up and $ going higher.  Anyone know where I can order an A1 stock?  (not the Cav Arms version either, heard it wasn't built well)....

ETA: spelling

I can only speculate, but I suppose it is due to a perceived lack of demand.  The rage seems to be adjustable stocks.

The only real complaint I have ever had about the Cav Arms stocks is the plastic butt plate that is included is cheesy at best.  That is easily replaced with an authentic A1 part.

Fulton Armory makes them.  I think they were 79.95 + shipping ?  That is complete with tube and buffer, and is the trap door version.  I bought one from the EE that is in new condition for $65 shipped.  I think it's a good stock.

Fulton Armory uses the same base stock component as the Cav Arms, except with a MUCH nicer buttplate.  I bought both and sold the black fulton armory stock with the Cav Arms buttplate while keeping the FDE stock and fulton assembly for myself.

the Fulton is a Cav Arms with a nice new buttplate. For the  price of a USGI its not worth it to make a new A1 stock

Apex Gun has A1 buttstocks for $60.00 They must be late ones because is matt black similar to the A2 butt.

I had no problems finding A1 stocks at gun shows.  Helps to shop around a bit.  If needed recoat in Bownells AlumaHyde II.  Have one of the Cav Arms, and won't but another one.  It is "okay" with a real buttplate, but not as good as a real A1 stock.

I corrected his post. Now it's perfect. The A2 buttplate fits nicely and has much better purchase in your shoulder than the old, slippery A1 model.

Thanks for the replies.  I found / ordered the one from Apex.  $60 is a bit steep but it looks good and is original.  May swap the buttplate with my A2 if I can.  I never thought to check Model1...  Guess I should check my own topic...

Cav arms A1 stock + A2 buttplate = great OK A1 stock..

Colt CS stock = A1 length, A2 build quality = great perfect A1 stock
