I'm planning a Light weight upper build with a Vltor MUR Billet upper 16" midlength gas tube and rifle length FF tube like the VTac extreme or Apex. The question is the barrel.

-Noveske Recon 16" SS with polygonal rifling

-DD 16" Light Weight CHF

-Noveske N4 Recce Low profile, would have to buy the entire upper but would get all the other parts (upper, sights, N4 barrel) and switch out the rail for the FF tube.

I know the DD would probably be the lightest weight but would the Noveske make up up for the small extra weight with vast improvements in accuracy?

Will Noveske ever sell the 16" N4 barrel by itself?

Can you use a Magpul BAD lever with the Vltor upper?

Considering Battle Comp but what other comps are good?

Thanks guys

Noveske SS.

The DD barrel isn't even in the same league, even after you factor in the price differences.

If you are looking at the N4, I'd also consider the Centurion.  They have a 14.5 lightweight midlength, CHF, tapered bore, double chrome lined like the N4.  I have one and it is miles more accurate than my doublestar 4150 chrome lined M4 barrel.

I have an MUR upper.  Unless I'm mistaken, it's forged.

I'm probably wrong, I just assumed it was billet from its design it looks like a lot of the billet ones.  Can a Magpul BAD lever work with one?

I think they changed them from billet to forged at some point.

I don't know if the BAD lever will work.  I know that my upper clamping fixture didn't work with it.  I had to make a fixture to install the barrel.  On the plus side, it's pretty tight, very nicely machined and looks bad a$$.  I only got the MUR because I scored it in a trade.  If I were buying an upper for a "special" build, I would likely have gone with a Daniel Defense.  I've had experience with two DD upper receivers so far, and both were top notch.  The barrel extensions on the barrels were a tight fit and they mated with all of the lowers that I tried them with very well.  Not rock solid tight, but not sloppy either.
