| I am finally getting the barrel of my HBAR2 threaded so I can add a flash suppressor. Was originally thinking of getting the Smith Vortex. What does everyone feel is the best suppressor and why? Looking for pros and cons of each. Currently my 16" barrel throws a beachball sized flame when I fire it, so looking for what will reduce the muzzle flash the best. |

I'm kinda partial to the A2, but I assume that's the one you say makes a beach ball sized flash.
We rec'd some complimentary Smiths and they actually did a great job (fired at night under NODs). While this was combat related shooting so accuracy wasn't really a factor, the claim that the swirl on the Vortex enhances accuracy is interesting. |

I think the accuracy claim stems from the idea that the gases are proportionally dispersed with the Vortex..? I could be wrong. |

The vortex is the best PERIOD.
The AAC blackout comes close, BUT some people report and dislike the ringing sound that it CAN make. The vortex is top of the line for flash hiding. The A2 is a complete joke! It is not a flash hider when compared to the vortex. It upsets me greatly that the US still uses the A2. You would think that hiding your flash in combat would be a must. The A2 is a joke! I cant see SHIT when firing in full auto with my vortex on a 10.5". I use a Smith Vortex. I was testing out a new build this past weekend and running a few different loads. These are some of the groups that I shot with my goto/control load of a 77gr Sierra Match King over Reloader 15 powder.
Some of the groups with the "experimantal" loads weren't so hot, but my goto load did pretty well with the Vortex on the barrel. |
