It rattles. I was hoping someone could enlighten me on this subject. I have no experience with replacing a stock. Should I even? I was under the impression it's not a good idea to have a stock that rattles around. I could use some help in figuring out what I can do in terms of replacement/ or fixing what I already have if possible. I was looking into a http://store.magpul.com/product/MAG400/82 (Magpul Commercial Stock) as an alternative. Would I need to replace the entire buffer tube etc, or does this just pop on?

First you want commercial not mil spec, diff size buffer tube. And the only way you can just throw a new stock on is if you already have a 6 position. If you have an A2 fixed stock you need a new buffer tube, spring, buffer and stock. I have 2 of the stocks that you are looking at and i LOVE them. Great cheek weld and locks up tighter than a drum. The CTS is a nice stock as well.
Good luck and happy hunting.

It is a 6 position. So am I looking at removing the tube, etc and I'll also need the castle nut wrench I'm assuming? I just wasn't sure if the stock came with the tube, buffer/spring.

the price for the stock is around $90, the kit is quite a bit more. you will need a castle nut wrench or you can use a punch if you trust yourself......

Would this suffice? http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/Magpul-MOE-Stock-Black-p/mag400%20%20black.htm

edit, so I'm seeing the difference between now between mil and commercial tubes. Is it advised I go with the tube etc plus the commercial spec model: http://store.magpul.com/product/MAG401/82 ?

If it is a factory RRA, then it should have a commercial tube. I would get a Magpul CTR and replace it if it bothers you. It will not harm the rifle to rattle.

Well I know it's a complete RRA lower receiver. Is there a way to tell?

I'm a little confused––- are you saying you presently have a 6 position and just want to swap to a Magpul 6 position? If so, you don't have to remove your buffer tube.

As for the differences in the mil-spec and commercial  carbine tubes, a mil-spec tube cross section measures 1.147". A commercial buffer tube cross section measures 1.17". Many times, but not always, the commercial carbine tubes will also be slanted at the very back end. Don't try to force a mil-spec carbine stock over a commercial buffer tube–– you risk damage to both parts.
