| I'm getting ready to buy an AR (most likely DPMS) for coyote hunting and most people I have talked to recommended getting the chrome option for ease of cleaning and a little better performance. Is it worth the extra money? Are there reasons not to? Right now I probably will but I'm just wondering what others think. |

Full chrome can be easier to clean than a standard Parkerized carrier, but not nearly as easy as IonBond. It doesn't sound as though you intend to run suppressed.
There will be no noticeable performance improvement otherwise. Only you can decide whether or not it is worth the extra cost. No negatives that I am aware of other than the increased cost. |

RRA is having a sale on chrome'd BCG's right now. They're like $130... Pretty hard to pass up. On non-duty/non-camo'd rifles, I think they:
A) Look nice B) Easier to clean C) Just run your fingers over one, there's no doubting they're slightly slicker than a park'd carrier. |

No it is not necessary, but yes it does help with cleaning. You can see the dirty parts easier, and the dirty stuff then comes off easier. I would only get Young's Manufacturing chrome carriers though. On Young's Manufacturing's website which carrier are you talking about? The National Match for $230 or just the complete chrome for $175? Can anyone make a comparison between Young's and RRA. I'm not trying to make the most dependable battle rifle either, it's just going to be an accurate hunting rifle so I'm sure the RRA is plenty good for my use. |
