| Just wondering why I don't seem to see much love for Troy rails on here? I have two ARs with them and they seem really nice. The first pair came on my M&P 15T and the other I put on my first build. They lock on rock solid, work with a standard barrel nut and don't require any special / proprietary tools to install. They're also about $100 cheaper than some of the brands that seem to get the love here. I was honestly just wondering what makes the others more popular, even at the increased price. Is there a huge weight difference or something else I'm not aware of? I've learned tons of great info on this site, please enlighten me on this. Thanks. |

i had a couple troy MRF -Drop in rails in 7''
They were both solid but the rails were slightly out of spec. Tango down forgrips were extremely wobbly, and knights covers slipped off of them from time to time I think they are just fine, but i chose to go with knights and Daniel defense for rails at a later date because they were more in-spec |

Troys are excellent. I don't think there is a any loss of love for them here. They are rock solid. IMO the main problem with Troy is their efforts to be a bit radical in the design dept. In an effort to break the mold and offer their take on ingenuity and diversity they have made some, while effective, less than eye apealing proiducts. I myself have a Troy car rail and it's great. I personally don't visually like the ribbs runing down between the the raisl but the machining and solidness makes up for it.

| The Troy rails are excellent rails. They are very durable and nicely priced compared to some other manufacturers. I own 4 of them myself. The only thing I would say is make sure when purchasing one of the MRF rails is to ensure that it is of the later generations. The earlier models used a detent to secure the bottom rail which left for a little wiggle room. The later ones used a bolt to secure the lower rail and make it rock solid. I will definately buy more for future projects. |
| Thanks for the replies. It seems like those who have them like them. It just seemed like there was a post every day with " Rail A or Rail B, Which should I use?" and Troy never seemed to get much attention. Besides personal preference, are there things that make the others worth the extra $$$$ ? Are there significant differences in weight or anything else between Troy, DD or Larue? |

I've had the FF TROY MRF's. They are heavy. Some of the other rails mentioned are far lighter.
I just built a 16" middy barreled-upper yesterday with an 11" TROY Extreme handguard. It's super light and slim. Installation was a breeze and everything lined up perfect. |
| I was thinking about going with the MRF-M 9" on a LMT 14.5.... I see that some like and some dont really care for the Troy's. I personally have never owned any. I love my Daniel Defense M4's, but I am on a budget this time. Do I have to worry about the Troy's being out of spec? |
