Hi Group,

I performed a search, but I didn't see a thread matching this inquiry.  I've decided to purchase a Timney trigger for my AR-15, which currently has a 6 pound stock trigger.  I'm wonfdering which trigger weight would be right.  My choices are 3, 4 or 4.5 lb. triggers.  My initial thought is that a 4 pound trigger would be just right.  Although tempting, I'm thinking that a 3 pound trigger weight would be too light on a defensive rifle?  I've always shot stock triggers so I wanted to get some of your expertise.  I would appreciate any feedback and/ or thoughts/ opinions.

Thanks!

I've got a 3lb in my 308 AR and i've never had a problem with it.

That being said, it IS more of a paper puncher, but i wouldn't have a problem using it hunting or in a defensive situation...

It even lights of hard primers in old German DAG surplus ammo.

For a defensive rifle, save your money and send your trigger group off to Bill Springfield. For $35 he'll give a creep free 4# trigger that is very crisp.

This is coming from someone who has both a Timney trigger for my precision AR, and one of Bill's triggers in my defensive rifle.

I have the Timney 4 lb trigger.  Works good for me.

I have the skeletonized 3lb on a 18" SPR build and love it for shooting steel and paper, I would not be scared to carry it if necessary.

Keep your finger off the trigger unless you're ready to shoot.

If you get the 3 pound version you can increase the weight if it has the 2 set screws in it. I asked Timney about exchanging it after a company sent me the wrong one and gave me the run around about exchanging it.

Go for the three pound trigger; shouldn't be too light to carry.
