| The CHF barrels are $70 more than the standard barrels. Wil I ever notice the difference? |
|
Notice the difference...no...appreciate the difference...I think so.
CFH is a superior barrel forming process for a number of reasons; it is not common, at least in the U.S. due to the cost of the equipmen required. It's one of the reasos I am a big LWRCi fan...that and Nitrocarburizing. |
| One benefit of a hammer forged barrel is that it resists "bursting" better than a standard barrel. Whether this is because of a squib or a barrel obstruction, I have seen several hammer forged barrels survive interesting incidents with little or no physical evidence that anything occurred. Sometimes there is a slight bulge, but the weapon will continue to function (generally with a loss of accuracy, but...better than having the rifle blow up in your face). |
| the main difference is that warm fuzzy feeling you get from such cool things. You will never reach a moment when those around you can not hit the target but you can because of your CHF barrel. or anything like that. I like warm fuzzy feelings so I pay extra for many such things. I am saying this when compared to the standard BCM barrel, If you were comparing it to a DPMS or CMMG barrel then it would be far more difference then the warm fuzzy. |
