So, after doing a search and reading through all the sarcasm and trolling, what is the verdict on running a non vented upper stock screw on an a1/a2 type stock?

It'll work just fine.

Agreed.  It's just a water drain hole.  Has no bearing on buffer function.

Interesting,
I am new to this but just bought an LMT lower with a loose buttstock.
In talking to the LMT tech I was told that the hole does act to relieve air pressur as well as being a drain hole.
But I did not ask, and he did not say, that not having the hole would affect function.

BS.  Take a look at to OD of your buffer.  It's got sizeable flats milled on it.  That's how the air compressed behind the buffer escapes during firing .  That little hole through the stock screw is not going to venting very much air.
