Hello,

Is the Aero upper good enough for a quality build?
This is my first home made ar15.
I have this upper with BCM forward assist and ejection port cover, that I installed. I did slightly enlarge the pin hole on the bottom for the forward assist, I used a roll pin punch one size too big. I do not think it will effect function. I am going to fill it in with some flat black epoxy paint.

I also have the following, a Aero lower with the DPMS LPK,
The Spike's buffer and extension kit, BCM mod 4 gunfighter charging handle,
and a Magpul CRT.

On the way...
A Daniel Defense CHF M4 barrel,
I also want to use the BCM BCG and the DD omega carbine rail.
A YHM phantom flash hider

The total will be in the $900.00's.

I am thinking that it would have been more economical to buy the BCM assembled upper.
The Aero seems to be good, I just wanted opinions of the more experienced people that are on this site.

Thank You,
rfeenergy

I have 2, both seem to be very good. I put a 18" SS Superior Barrel on one and it was shooting MOA with remanufactured black hills rounds.

I have an aero upper on my build, it is very good, just know that it doesnt have any T marks if that matters to you. my only complaint is that the anodizing seems a bit thin on mine. Overall I think it is a great deal though.

Thank you for the replies!

I will post photos.

I am kinda bummed about counter sinking the forward assist pin hole a bit ( it is on the bottom side of the upper).  I had my girlfriend hold the the upper between 2 wood blocks on the floor, she kept moving the upper and whining ( I need either a new vice or a new girlfriend, LOL).  I also used a roll pin punch one size too big that slightly flared the end of the roll pin and created a sort of counter sink into the roll pin hole.
I got wise and clamped the upper between the wood on the counter with some pipe clamps. I drove it out and stoned off the flair and re-blued it. I then reinstalled it properly.  You can see where the pin hole is a bit counter sunk, I wish I would have done it right the first time, but I do not see the point of buying a new upper because of this mistake.

I am thinking about the DD lite 7.0 rail instead of the omega.

Out Here,
