I bought a barrel with a 1/2 x 28 muzzle thread and is a threaded barrel only and doesn't come with any kind of muzzle flash suppressor. My question is if I by a flash suppressor in that same muzzle thread does it need to be permanently attached to work or can I just screw it on to the end of the barrel and it should work? An answer would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Does not need to be permanently attached (unless you have a 14.5" barrel).

If you get an A2 style FH or something else that needs to be 'indexed'
you will also need a crush (or peel) washer for the
installation.

If you go with something like a Vortex, just screw it on and go.

As long as you get it torqued to spec, you will be good to go.
(sorry, I don't know the torque spec details - just that it is NOT gorrilla-tight)
