In a fit of shear stupidity, I managed to destroy my upper while changing to a FF hand guard! I won't entertain anyone with the specifics, I'll just leave it at I forgot that I wasn't working on a 150t crane....
Anyway, gun used to be a Bushy 16" M4. Now, it's just a bunch of parts. Any advantage over one upper receiver compared to another? I was considering getting a LaRue upper receiver but it doesn't have the M4 cuts while the barrel does. Everything I've read says it doesn't matter with a semiauto, but I don't want any issues with reliability. I've already beat myself up enough over my stupidity, so if anyone has any recommendations on an upper receiver I'd appreciate it. |

We need details, man.
Plus, if you were (in your own words) "stupid" enough to destroy an upper by changing handguards, why would you want to trust yourself with a Larue upper? The Laure faces greater risk of destruction from being in your possession than being without M4 feed ramps.
Anyway, I hope you get up and running again. ETA: Any mil-spec forged upper will work (I would probably try to find a CMT or Colt––they are always available on the EE). |

Don't feel too bad, I can promise you that you are not the first person to tear up something while trying to fix or improve it! Anyway, upper receivers are pretty generic, get a LMT or Stag or CMT or something, you'll be fine. And congratulations on your first post, please don't wait 5 years before your next one! So as soon as you get that rifle fixed up to suit you, post a photo or two. And when you order the upper, get the proper tools to go with it, they will come in handy for you and your buddies later, you may even save an upper facing destruction at a friend's hands. |

If you want the LaRue upper, it is in stock here with M4 ramps.

I have purchased several of these. They are great for the dollars, and quick shipping from BCM. |

If you want a few to practice on these are reasonable.
