Is the Omega prevented from rotating by friction only or does it lock in somehow?  For example, most rails have pins that lock into the barrel nut and Larue rails have an anti-rotation plate.

the back of the two-piece rail engages to the barrel nut.
...then four set screws are slightly tighten against the barrel nut to lock it.

I recall seeing a groove that snaps over the nut, but I didn't see anything that actually locks into the nut.

Do those screws fit into the barrel nut teeth or do they just press against the nut?

they press against the nut to create the lock.
