There are a lot of KAC clones out there, airsofters like them because the military uses them. Most here on the EE should be real.
The M4/M5 RAS are good quality rails, but unless you're paying under $150 for them (and preferably around or under $100), you could buy a newer and better rail system for the money. My last M4 RAS was $80. Practically UTG price and KAC quality, can't really go wrong with that. |
I bought the KAC RAC recently. The rails were super easy to install. I had to ask for pointers on the rail covers I never thought about pressing the spring steel locks. Anyway I bought them used for $120 full set of covers and grip. Not too bad, but a little more than some I've missed buying. I would have liked the sling swivel sockets the DD rails provide built in, but I liked the heat shield the KAC rails provide. So I choose them for that reason. They fit nice and tight not moving at all. Feels good. I'm pretty pleased with them being my first set of rails ever. We didn't have such things when I carried my issued M16a2 back in the day. As far as fakes? I got mine off gun broker in a complete set. They had many identifying pictures with Knights written all over them and the storage bag for the extra covers with the Knights symbol on it. I'm going to assume I got the real deal. I was just going to buy the rails, but most of the time the picture were not so good and they claimed them to be real. It made me hesitant with not being an "expert" on this equipment.
