I have a cool bag I'd like to fit my AR into, but it is a tight fit. Any fraction of an inch I can shave off the OAL of the rifle could help. The gun is already 14.5" with permanent Phantom, with a CTR stock, rubber pad removed.
Would the ACE Thin Lock Ring allow my CTR to close another 1/4" or so, and would a single one stay tight? I don't understand the marketing of these, claiming using two together will keep the stock tight –– two look to be the same width as a standard castle nut. "Thin lock-ring will "lock" extension tubes to receivers, and two used together will ensure that your M4 stock will not come loose! Measures .160 thick."

Not thinking this would allow the receiver extension to go into the receiver any further, rather it would let the CTR stock collapse further.
