Gent's,

Questions - seeking opinions on which vertical forward grip to go with? There are so many choices in terms of brands, lengths, and how they are fastened to the rail...I'm confused. I just want a rock solid forward grip that is resistant to the elements. BTW, this will be going on a full size 20" A4 rifle and cost does not matter - what's the best?

Thanks!

Most people will rpely that it depends on what style shooting you do. The Magpul guys teach the "use-the-vfg-as-a-hand-stop" style which is effective. For that you'd be most likely to use a short stubby like the FUG with short cap or TD stubby. You can of course use a full length one while using the same style of grip as well, it gives you more storage.

For full length ones you cant go wrong with Larue FUG, Tango Down, DD, KAC, and any of the other respected brands.

It all comes down the preference on VFG as long as you stay with the quality brands.

In regards to attachment, ask yourself if you see removing the grip often or if its gonna be most permanent. If youre gonna be removing it for different shooting situations, get a QD. If not, the regular ones work just as well.

Thanks boys...I just ordered the Troy Modular Combat Grip - great idea to have the ability for modification to either a short or long version (2 grips in 1 basically)!

Cheers,

I haven't found a better one for my uses than the Larue model. I've tried a lot of them too.

Same here...  The FUG has been the best one so far.

LaRue is 3 grips in 1.  I would have gone with the Larue.  Everything I've seen of theirs is solid as a rock and I don't think I've ever heard of anything they make breaking.

Amazing the GripPod was not mentioned, being one of the most widely deployed forward grips in the world.

To Whom it May Concern
This is a press release from Grip Pod Systems . We at Grip Pod Systems have been very fortunate to be the largest weapon stabilization system adoption for small arms in use with the U S Armed forces in U S history. Approximately four years ago the U S Army at Picatinny Arsenal tested all known bipods in open competition for use on the m16a2, m16m4, and m16a4, in CQB ,Medium, and Long range Applications. Furthermore, very harsh testing continued for over 9 months. One of the many tests consisted of a m16m4 rifle equipped with 30round full magazine, issued acog optic, peq4 IR laser, and bipod with fully opened legs was dropped from a height of 5 feet onto concrete. Unfortunately most of the bipods broke. Some of the competing bipods which broke weighed up to 5 times more than the Grip Pod which passed the drop test and only weighed 7 ounces. This was the lightest of all the bipods in testing. Also the Army had used vertical foregrips on m16s for years finding that they absolutely aided the soldiers in CQB target acquisition. The Army decided that the conventional bipod was a problem when used with the vertical foregrip as one got in the way of the other, and increased weight beyond what was useful. Thus the Patented Grip Pod provided the U S Army with a dual purpose much stronger vertical foregrip and bipod in one small light package which deployed with the push of a button, much faster than before and enabled the soldier to engage the enemy with speed and accuracy never before thought possible as the soldier always maintained total control of the weapon during transition from standing to prone as both hands were usually on both front and rear grips .Currently the Grip Pod is tested and totally adopted by the U S Army, US Marine Corps, U S National Guard ,British Army , Many Special operations Groups, FBI, DEA ,and many other federal and state law enforcement agencies. Furthermore the U S forces have procured over 950,000 Grip Pods since its large adoption and we feel very privileged and honored that the fighting men of the U S Forces are using this item in combat every day and we believe that they are the real heroes .Thank you guys for being part of a great board and we hope we answer your concerns GRIP POD SYSTEMS

Scar with Grip Pod and Grip Pod light rail & Light. More is less, by deleting light pressure pad cord and using the support thumb to access light thus less accidental light deployment.
