| What is the best upper receiver i can buy for Service rifle competition? |
|
Please forgive my complete ignorance over this matter.....but isn't it kind of like.....cheating going into a shooting match with tricked out / upgraded equipment? Isn't it like wearing a pair of brass knucles under your boxing gloves, or something?
Again, I am completely ignorant about this, so sorry if it sounded insulting. I truly did not intend to insult anybody and am asking this question in a good faith. Thanks! |
| You are allowed by the rule books to do certain things to the rifle, but it has to maintain the look of the original. In the case of the AR it is typical to have a match grade barrel, upgraded and pinned rear sight, free float tube (but must have A2 handguards), weights in the butt and forearm. Trust me, those upgrades only help an accomplished rifleman, they are not a cheat. |

Not exactly cheatin' if everyone can conform to the same rules. Stock Car races useually don't run truely stock cars either, bu the competitors must work within the rules. Winning comes down to skill. I've shot a fairly tricked out service rifle class rifle in matches, but the only thing that will get me in the top 10% is more practice. My offhand shooting needs work, and my wind reading skills also need improvement on the 600yd line. The rifle is capable, I must make myself it's equal. |
