Is the one used in the UBR the same as the one made by Rock River Arms? Do these need a special sprig, or is it a standard carbine or rifle length one? How long are they compared to carbine buffer tubes?

Thanks

They use standard carbine spring and buffers.  I'm not sure on the answer to your other questions offhand.

Yes, it is the same as the one made by RRA. It installs just like a rifle length extension but is shorter. Stickman has a great writeup that shows installation -

Ah, thanks! I am making a custom stock somewhat similar to the UBR (but with moar better), and originally I had designed it with a special buffer tube that was completely round, but carbine length. Then I hears someone talking about RRA entry length tubes, and that got me thinking why not just buy one. It looked kind of like a PITA to make on the ol' lathe so this should save some time. I'll order one up I'm assuming they are similar length to the carbine tube because they use the same springs?

Yeah, uses the same spring and buffer as the carbine length. Just FYI, the sully stock also uses the entry length extension.

Hope it works out for ya.

ETA - Overall length is 7.5 inches. I'm not the best with a camera, but here is a picture -
