I have a Milspec tube (yes, I'm sure). I just got my Vltor Emod Stock. After installing it, it has a little side to side wiggle. About 1/16-1/8 of an inch. It is noticeable. I thought the fit would be a little tighter.
I checked my receipt to ensur ethat it was for a Milspec Emod. It is. I looked in the Emod manual which said that the Milspec models will be marked inside the storage compartement with an M in the most forward circle. That there is no M marking for commercial. I looked in the compartment and there is an M marking, but in the rear most circle. ????? My buffer tube isn't a Vltor model, but I thought it didn't have to be. Is there normally a little wiggle in these stocks? |

Oops. I forgot to post a follow up. I spoke with Blaine (spelling) at Vltor this morning. Very helpful guy. Blaine explained that as long as there is an “M” in the storage compartment somewhere, that it’s a milspec. He explained that this amount of play or wiggle is standard, due to many manufacturers. He furthered that many manufactures have slight variances within milspec, and that stocks can also. It does not mean that either is out of spec, but may mean the tube is on the smaller side of ins-pec or vice versa. Of course, some lucky folks could find they have a tube on the small side of spec and a stock on the wide side of spec. Anyway, it makes clear and logical sense to me. He recommended that I give the stock a chance to break in, and that (even though there is a wobble) it may break in fine. He said that the electrical tape was not a bad idea if the wiggle was bothering me.
Put my rifle together, complete w/ ACOG. The ACOG has a relatively short eye relief. With the longer length of the EMod, I have to really stretch to get a good sight picture |

I have a hard time understanding why folks take the slight back and forth and rotational movement so hard. The way it's designed, it has to have room between the receiver extension and the inside of the collapsible stock, if it's so tight fitting, the stock would move with difficulty and something (most likely the interior of the stock) would just start wearing anyway.
Even the CTR can develop movement after awhile . I don't think this is a "problem" to fix, it's a part of the carbine. HK roller locked rifles/SMGs A3 retractable stock can be like that too. Once the stock is tucked in and the shooter obtains a good cheek weld, what movements there may be shouldn't be a matter of concern. |

I have a Mil-spec size EMOD on my Vltor buffer tube and it doesn't wiggle as much as yours.
There's a little movement but it still slides easily and it doesn't affect me when shooting or my groupings. Maybe take a look at the new just released Magpul ACS stock, it have storage compartments plus a friction lock like the Magpul CTR. Magpul ACS Thread - link |

I'm gonna give Vltor a call and see what they say about it.
