I have decided to build an upper and would like some input on components. I have pretty much decided that I am going to purchase a stripped VLTOR MUR upper (if i can find the darn thing in stock anywhere). Now I just need to decide on what length barrel (16 or 18) with what rate of twist (7 or 8) and should I buy a bolt that was made for that barrel or just buy a match BCG. I think I want to make it a midlength upper but I want to design it for tactical use. I am not only looking for input on length, rate of twist, and so on but would also like to know company names. I know I said I want a tactical platform but I would also like to be able to throw rounds down range to 500m accurately (not talking sub MOA but able to hit a silouhette target). Any info would be appreciated. Thank you.

Noveske Next question.
I don't think you can build it better or cheaper than he is doing already.

If I was stuck on doing it myself:
Vltor MUR upper
Noveske Recon barrel w/ matched bolt
DD lite rail (just because you have to do some fitting to make the LaRue rail work).

Accuracy is controlled by the three B's: barrel, bullet, and brass, in that order.  Buy a high quality barrel, with a good reputation of being an MOA barrel or under.  People who own them, post their groups.  Look around.  Read as many barrel makers web pages as you can: teach yourself: take your time.  You will make the correct decision.
