How do y'all rate your DD lite rail to other rails? is it more durable than others, or is it a over-all bad design?  i HAD a 12" Lite rail which worked great until i took it out of the box and started using it, i first noticed it moved slightly but didn't think much of it, the movement increased to where it would actually hit my barrel, at this point it was approx. 2 months old max.  It was installed correctly and taken good care of, however the welds broke just from handling the rifle by the rail, thankfully i found it has a lifetime warranty so im shipping it back which is a huge pain in the ass to take off the gun.  Im wondering if its a bad design because i dont see how something bolted on the front like the lite rail could be strong at all out on the end, maybe the shorter rails are stronger but i don't see how the 12" could ever be strong. i think i will give it another try, and if it fails may have to go with another rail.  also, heres a dumb question: are the holes along the top of the rail for a QD sling point or just more vents?

I love my DD Lite rails. If you had them installed correctly, you shouldn't be getting any movement whatsoever. And by the way, all free float rails only connect at the rear; if it contacted the barrel at any other point, it'd kill the point of the free float, no?

I have a 12" rail and never had any problems with shift. I grab it by the rail all the time and never feel any flex.

I've used 14", 12", and 10" Lite rails and never had any problems with them.  I fail to see how removing it is a huge pain in the ass unless you have something like a pinned suppressor mount or a really chunky gas block.  Unscrew six cap screws and the rail slides right off.  I'd like to see a picture of the failure.

Lite rails don't have integrated QD cups.

They're the strongest, lightest, highest quality, best looking rails on the earth.  If it was loose, you installed it wrong, or it was a china made knock off.

ETA:  Just about everyone I know uses DD rails.  Never, not once, have I seen one break from hard use.  I saw one ran over by an aircrarft carrier once, yet no damage at all.  Yes im pulling crap out of thin air here just to show how easy it is to make up a story.

this.

i have 2 9"ers and they are awesome.

here's one

I've even got some video that shows you what really happens when you shoot a rifle with this rail.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IQ1460AMD_E

You will notice a lot of barrel flex, and minimal receiver/rail flex.

I'd say the setup is pretty damned solid.

i know my one 10" lite rail is a very small segment of the market but i like it so much i picked up the MK18 RIS II for my SBR.

the fact that i'm very rough on my gear and the DD rail has yet to budge is a good indicator to me that it's well made. if my gear and equipment can't take the abuse then what's the point?

now i know there will be guys that say "...oh, well my UTG rail has never failed..." well, i call BS. UTG is a failure from the start it's just a matter of time or it's not really being used. your DD on the other hand is a top quality part. if, and that's a BIG IF, your rail did break then it's more of an anomaly and that will be where the warranty comes in.

sorry brother but without pictures of the broken weld it's hard to take you seriously.

When people say I broke a larue mount or arms throw lever, DD rail cracked this or that I roll my eyes.  There are china copies of every part you can think of.  They even copy the brand name as well.    So the " I touched my DD rail and it broke. " is BS.

ETA:  Ive owned stuff from all of these companies for years and have used them pretty rough.  Never broke any of them yet.  Its not going to happen unless I move to the sand box and get hit with an rpg or ied.....and still, that might not break one.

You didn't even post pictures of your problem in that thread.  IIRC it was just a random pic of a Lite rail with an arrow pointing to where it cracked, hardly helpful to us.  Please be sure to let us know how DD handled it.  Personally I don't get how a crack at that point could make the whole rail fail, there are 4 spot welds around the circumference of the rail.  To bust all of them, you'd have to really beat up on the rail.  If you used the wrong length cap screw in that central hole, you could probably do it, but I don't see how anybody could do that or why they would do it.  Did you install it yourself?  If you didn't have the tools for the job how did you accomplish it?  You spent all that money on premium gear and couldn't afford a Bondhaus allen wrench?  Something doesn't add up.  From the other thread I got the impression that you had a Noveske SPR barrel and the gun wasn't running.  Did you ever get it sorted out?
