Hi I have a M4 Flat-top Carbine. It has the round forward assit. I noticed yesterday that my forward assit was sticking. I would push it in and it stayed pushed in,until I would pull it out then it would pop back. IF I do not push it all of the way in it will spring back so I think the spring is good. But when you push it in all the way it stays stuck in and stays in until I pull on it then it pops back. S what is causing it to do this? Any info will help

I did not take it apart, but I lubed it form the inside where the Pawl come out into the reciever, lubed it until the clp was dripping out of the forward assit. Still getting stuck.

I had the same problem on one of my first builds.  The spring pin (roll pin) was installed with it's opening towards the FA.  A slight burr was binding on the assembly.  Now I give ea. pin a quick touch up with a Swiss file.

As a side note I install the opening of that pin towards any leaking gases, and the gas tube pin upwards away from any leaking gases.
Hope this helps
