Ever since I shot my buddy's Armalite AR that has a Bushmaster Y-Comp on it I've been looking for a good brake. The Y-Comp works! Theres almost no recoil movement of the rifle but the Y-Comp is oogly.
First I tried the DNTC brake, not the agressive but the regular brake and it didn't make any felt difference. Then I got a 3 chamber Miculek because I thought the way they are designed would work as good as the Y-Comp. It works but not as good as the Y-Comp and its big and heavy.
A fellow arfcommer is going to send me a Saber Defense Gill Brake. From pics I've seen they are not big like the Miculek and the design really should lend itself to intended function.
I realize the .223/5.56 has little felt recoil and my pet load has even less but maybe someday I'll design my own brake.

What brake are you guys useing and why that one?

Thanks For Your Time

I'm using a PWS FHC556, and I really like it.

I want to try one of the Sabre Defense ones your getting your hands on, though. Of the few reviews I've read on it, they all really seem to like it.

The best I have shot are the Benny Hill Rolling Thunder and the JP Coolly comp. The Y-comp works , it is just god awful loud.
