| Any good? Also if you had a choice Surefire or Troy, and why. Thanks. |

Surefire is fine as is Troy assuming you're talking drop-in rail systems.
Much of it comes down to use and perhaps even budget with the Troy running a little cheaper. For hanging a VFG or flashlight off of, either will do you right. Should you like colors on your AR, then the Troy also comes in FDE, coyote or tan (or whatever the current term is). If you choose to run an optic that far out, you may be better off looking at solid set ups like the LMT MRP. Brace your wallet though. The Troy has QD sockets closest to the front of the receiver whereas the SF does not. The SF ladder style rail covers are the slimmest around and pretty tacky. They can also be bought separately too. I have and use both FWIW without issue and obviously recommend either. |

The Surefire rail has the sharpest edges of any I've held, isn't Mil spec, is heavy, and the top rail sits lower than the rail height of an A3/A4 receiver.
They make quality gear, but holy shit do they suck at spec'ing out a rail system. When it comes to drop in rails, I'd go with a DD Omega. I'd go with Troy over the M73 if the DD is not an option though. |
