I've said before I am new to rifles in general (been mostly a pistol and shotty guy) so I am new to this. What are the advantages and disadvantages to a barrel that is ported other than the disadvantage that I have no options as far as supressors and brakes I basically am stuck with what is on there.

Ported barrels are smooth shooting, horrendously loud sideways flamethrowers. For a target gun? Eh, maybe. Tactical/defense use. Never.
