Can anyone tell me do I have to take apart an ACE SKELETON A2 LENGTH STOCK to install on my new SUN DEVIL LOWER? I ask this because when I turn it to install it on the lower it stops at a point where the lower will not let it go all the way on? About 1/8 in. gap between the lower and the stock .Maybe Im missing something or maybe Im dumb. Thanks.

Do you have the buffer detent depressed?

Installed an ACE 6-position on a lower this morning.  In my case I needed to file (fine rat-tail) a small notch into the threaded end of the stock tube in order to get an extra 3/4 turn into the receiver threads.  This allowed the tube to fully cover the detent plunger (to the edge of the *nipple*) and brought the tube into proper alignment for stock mounting.  The notch is half-moon shaped and maybe 2mm deep and worked just right.
I used a spanner wrench out of my bicycle tools to tighten the castle nut.

No it is not installed yet.I need to put all those in before I install the stock (detent and springs)? I just wanted to see how it looks first,Waiting on a buffer tube and spring.Still learning and I thank you for your response. The stosck stops turning before seating into the back of the lower indent.

In addition to the buffer retainer pin and spring, you will also install the takedown pin, takedown detent and detent spring into the lower when installing the stock.  Check the video at this site for clear instructions.

There are also instructions with pictures on this site if you look...

Basically I can only turn the Ace stock a total of 4 times around and the nub on the back of the stock gets hung up on the lower. The "nub" being the part of the stock that seats in the round cut on the back of the lower next to the take down spring hole.Maybe I am missing a part with the stock?

Whoa, wait a minute here.  You are doing this all wrong. You do not rotate the stock assembly ever.

To install an ACE ARFX stock you first install the buffer detent spring and buffer detent into the lower.  Then screw only the receiver extension tube (buffer tube) into the rear of the lower.  Depress the detent and screw the tube all the way in until the shoulder on the tube bottoms out against the the lower receiver.  At this point the forward end of the tube should capture the detent like shown in one of the pics above.  Then slide the front block of the ACE stock onto the rear of the tube a short distance and begin feeding the foam sleeve onto the tube.  Continue sliding the sleeve on while sliding the stock forward until everything mates with the back of the small shoulder of the tube.  Don't forget to install the detent and spring for the rear takedown pin.  At this point the .500" diameter "nub" on the front of the stock will engage the mating shallow hole in the lower receiver.  Be careful to compress the takedown spring forward into the lower without bending it.  The rear end of the tube will now be fully seated in the butt plate of the stock.  Insert and tighten the 1/4-28 screw into the upper hole of the butt plate. You are now done.

Install the buffer tube first. Then slide on the ARFX and the foam tube. If you are trying to install as one unit it will not fit correctly.

+1

This is the way it's done.

The buffer tube goes on by itself first, then everything else. The only thing I would add is that some kind of lubricant might make it easier to feed the foam sleeve onto the buffer tube. Don't use anything that might irritate your face if it gets on the outside of the foam.  I have put on four of these and they are always a bear to do.

One other trick I've done is to cut 1" strips of plastic for something like a notebook divider. The stuff that's about the thickness of rigid construction paper, but still pliable.  Once the foam sleeve has started, I insert the strips between the buffer tube and sleeve as far as I can push them.  You can then pull on the sleeve on much easier.  Once you get near the end, just pull out the strips and finish pushing it on the rest of the way. Good luck.

You only need to take out the top buttpad screw. The rest can be left in place.
